THINK AFTER YOU FEEL 愛

(Dis)Play
5 Laser Prints on canvas with Oil pastel. 1 Video projection. 30 Standard matte laser prints.
Looking at the world, observing from a distance, am I part of them?
Am I part of their worlds?
‘Let’s play together…’
The idea of playing can be considered as entertaining.
The way we feel entertained varies from one another, which makes me think that playing together is an interaction of finding the memories that each side share. Essentially, it is very political and cultural. Navigating myself through my growing-up wasn't easy, and I tried to capture the general idea into the four multimedia works that compose (Dis)Play !: Drift.
There is a movement or flow throughout the series.
In the second work, (Dis)Play II: Hover, I transform my presence into simply white noise. You can only experience this at the exhibition. And from here, across the showroom is the last work, (Dis)Play III: Overflow. My presence aligns with your eyes, looking at the photographs on the wall.
The layout of the 30 photographs is the representation of the way memory works in my mind.
When I remember an event, sometimes there will be other events coming along. I will be surrounded, or to say drowned by the memories, the images overlapping, scenes becoming blurry. Using the concept of playing as a prompt to provoke your thoughts, I wonder what you see on the photos.
